How does Invisalign® treatment work?
With our advanced digital imaging systems, we're able to provide precise dental results for you and us. We start by using an iTero digital scanner, so we can get precise measurements of your teeth and jaws to determine if orthodontics might be right for you and what action is required to position your teeth appropriately.
It uses an innovative scanning system called iTero Scanner which scans objects using laser technology. Our proven process lets you see how straight and stunning your teeth will look when you've completed your Invisalign orthodontic treatment.
First we need to figure out what your treatment needs are so we know what kind of treatments we'll be able to provide for them. Next, develop an individualized treatment plan for each patient based on their unique needs.
Aligner systems like Invisalign deliver treatment by creating a series of aligners which slowly realign teeth into their optimal position. Each tray comes with a comfortable set of custom made overlays that fit comfortably and securely over your teeth and help keep them stable during use. You'll be wearing these during the treatment course.
As a patient, In some cases you may require a combination of solutions such as implants, bridges, teeth whitening an implant supported denture and invisalign braces combined in order to achieve your desired smile.

Are Clear Aligners the same as braces?
Yes they are! Clear aligners are made from thin plastic trays that fit over your teeth like an invisible retainer.
You wear them for two weeks at a time, then remove them for several days before moving on to the next set.
Each tray has tiny slits cut into its surface so that when you put it back together, the aligner snaps into place.
This movement helps move your teeth into their correct position.
Benefits over traditional braces
The main advantage of Invisalign over traditional braces is that they don't require any drilling, cutting, or other invasive procedures. This means there's no risk of infection or damage to surrounding tissue. Another benefit:
You won't have to worry about wearing bulky metal appliances while you sleep. Equally as they're made of a soft plastic material, they won't hurt when you bite down or chew.
Clear aligners aren't as strong as metal braces, so as your teeth are aligned one set won't hold your teeth in place indefinitely. As such the treatment course requires a series of clear aligners.
With each treatment step and scan, the next set of aligners gradually and consistent pressure your teeth into the desired alignment.
Visualizing your smile
Meeting with your dentist to get a sneak peek at your new smile, is an important part of the journey.
Using an iTero scanner, we are able to show you exactly how your smile will look before you start treatment and can discuss any adjustments necessary to design your desired smile.
With this type of treatment, it's always best to visit St Marys Dental in person and sit down with one of our team to discuss, plan and organise your treatment.
