I have Toothache and Tooth Pain, is this classed as a Dental Emergency?
A mild or intermittent toothache isn't considered as requiring an emergency service or deemed as requiring an emergency treatment. However, If the dental pain is severe enough that it cannot be managed by over-the-counter medications, then it might be time to call our dentists for help.
If you experience severe tooth pain when chewing, biting down hard or there is an abscessed tooth or swelling, then see your dentist immediately for assesment.
If you have lost a filling please contact the practice. In the meantime please try to avoid eating on the area.
If you think you may have swallowed your crown, call 111 immediately. If you still have your crown please keep it in a safe place and book an appointment to see your Dentist. Sometimes crowns can be recemented if there is no damage found to the tooth or crown.
Some patients experience a wobbly, loose or dislodged tooth which can be caused by physical trauma or a dental infection. It is very important to get it looked at as soon as possible to prevent further problems!
If you think you have chipped or broken your tooth, please call the practice for an appointment. In most instances broken teeth are easily restored with minimal intervention needed. In the meantime please avoid eating on the area and contact sports to avoid damaging the tooth further.
